I am an accredited Psychotherapist in the United States and Italy. I was born and raised in the United States, graduate of Smith College. I have lived in Turin for 40 years, where I received a Degree in Psychology and Education from the University of Turin, as well as a training and Degree in Family Therapy from the Centro Studi di Terapia Familiare e Relazionale in Rome. I specialize in interpersonal psychotherapy and family relationships, with vast experience in dual nationality couples and families. In addition to private practice, I have collaborated with international schools in Turin and Milan, and I am a consultant to a therapeutic community for individuals coping with issues of dual diagnosis, addictions and psychiatric problems. My personal experience facilitates understanding of issues of transition and adaptability, raising children in a different cultural environment, adoption, loss of a close relative, and facilitating parents from different cultural backgrounds.
I have also worked for the VanLeer Foundation in the Netherlands, visiting and evaluating their projects for children throughout the world, and I have followed a project for the Compagnia di San Paolo to facilitate projects for foreigners in Turin.
My concept of the therapeutic process is to grasp an understanding of what brings the patient to turn to a therapist; his/her background in regard to family, education, interests, relationships and attachments, as well as possible distress in other family members. Most importantly, what changes can be made, accompanying them in this process. In some instances, family or friends are brought in along with the patient.
